Westlands Youth #MIRADIMITAANI Unveiled by HON TIM WANYONYI

The Westlands Youth Empowerment Programme #MIRADIMITAANI an initiative by the Westlands MP, Hon Tim Wanyonyi aimed at supporting youth who are in structured groups from the constituency to acquire grants in the form of equipment or tools to engage in entrepreneurship was launched today Friday, April 22, 2016 at Kabete Vet Lab Primary School.

7 Westlands Youth Groups from Kitisuru Ward, Westlands Constituency benefited from the first phase of the project. They received various equipment for entrepreneurship donated by the hardworking Westlands MP as outlined below: 

1. Dam View Youth Group-Shoe Shine Stall;


2. The Street Boys Youth Group-Motorbike for BodaBoda Business;

3. Lake Side Youth Group-High Pressure Car Wash Machine and a Tank;


4. Kibagare United Youth Group-Flat LED SONY TV 40 Inch Screen-for Video/DSTV business;


5.Gitoka Youth Group-High Pressure Car Wash Machine and a 5,000L Water Tank;

6. Our Beautiful Ladies Salon Youth Group-Full assortment of salon equipment;

7. Upendo Shoe Shine Youth Group-Shoe Shine Stall

In the programme structured groups with existing space as well as groups intending to expand their enterprises are prioritized. The launch marks the beginning of unveiling of a programme that will see the first tranche of 100 groups (6,250 youth) are empowered by Hon Wanyonyi.

A monitoring network involving the MP’s Office, Youth Office, Youth Fund Office and Uwezo Fund Office are integrated to ensure that the groups operate efficiently and entrench professionalism in running their businesses.

The MP has immediate plans are to integrate the youth groups into SACCOS and PENSION schemes to enable them to save as well as build the pension for old age.
