Westlands Youth #MIRADIMITAANI Unveiled by HON TIM WANYONYI

Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi addressing the media after officially launching the Westlands Youth Empowerment Program (WEYEP) The Westlands Youth Empowerment Programme #MIRADIMITAANI an initiative by the Westlands MP, Hon Tim Wanyonyi aimed at supporting youth who are in structured groups from the constituency to acquire grants in the form of equipment or tools to engage in entrepreneurship was launched today Friday, April 22, 2016 at Kabete Vet Lab Primary School. 7 Westlands Youth Groups from Kitisuru Ward, Westlands Constituency benefited from the first phase of the project. Westlands MP-TIM WANYONYI Trains Teachers to DELIVER DIGITAL CURRICULUM

18 teachers from 9 primary schools in Westlands Constituency have this morning Monday, April 11, 2016 began a 5 day digital literacy training at Kabete Vet Lab Primary School courtesy of the Westlands MP, Hon Tim Wanyonyi. The training being undertaken by Computer Pride Limited aims at updating the computer skills of the teachers for effective delivery of the digital curriculum in their institutions which received fully fledged computer labs from Hon Tim Wanyonyi last year (2015). Hon Wanyonyi has said that focus must at this juncture shift from the computers to the content. It shall be remembered Hon Wanyonyi has established fully functional computer labaratories in 9 primary schools in the first phase of installation. Each computer lab consists of 40 networked computers, virtual machine technology and broadband internet access. The labs are expected to serve as resource hubs for the more than 10,000 pupils. Westlands Constituency has over the years had representation in parliament starting with Fitz Remedios who ascended to power in 1963 ushering the late ECK Chairman Samuel Kivuitu in 1969, Isaac waweru 1974, Krishan chander 1979, Samuel Kivuitu 1983, Njoroge Mungai 1988, Amin Walji 1992, and Fred Ngumo who took over in a by election in 1994 to be at the helm of power for 19 years to 2013 when he resigned from active politics. All this were leaders chosen by the people and looking back at the impact they had to the electorate. KANGEMI PRIMARY SCHOOL RECEIVES A FACELIFT

Westlands MP, Hon Tim Wanyonyi will this morning handover a fully refurbished Kangemi Primary School. The school which has a population of 1,500 pupils has 36 classrooms which were in deplorable state. The renovations have been carried out by the Westlands National Government Constituency Development Fund.  The importance of the renewal can not be understated given that the school is the only public primary school in the sprawling Gichagi Village within the congested Kangemi Informal Settlements.  Due to the fact that there are few public schools in Kangemi relative to the population of pupils and students and also compounded by the dilapidated  state of public schools has led to mushrooming of informal schools within the slums. These informal schools offer poor standards of education, lack sufficient space and lack basic facilities. With the renovation, Kangemi primary school will have a new lease of life by attracting more enrollment and provide a powerful learning environ
