Westlands Constituency has over the years had representation in parliament starting with Fitz Remedios who ascended to power in 1963 ushering the late ECK Chairman Samuel Kivuitu in 1969, Isaac waweru 1974, Krishan chander 1979, Samuel Kivuitu 1983, Njoroge Mungai 1988, Amin Walji 1992, and Fred Ngumo who took over in a by election in 1994 to be at the helm of power for 19 years to 2013 when he resigned from active politics. All this were leaders chosen by the people and looking back at the impact they had to the electorate. A saying goes “You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince” and yes we did until 8th march 2013 when a prince was given to us HON. TIM WANYONYI a true servant leader was chosen by God for the people of Westlands Constituency and I will say this has really changed the constituency in all perspectives.

After sweeping to victory in March 2013, Hon Tim Wanyonyi embarked on his unique Westlands Constituency Strategic Plan .

He has focused on:
  • Improving education outcomes;
  •  Improving Health Access and Quality in Westlands Constituency;
  • Addressing health hazards through community driven sanitation programs;
  • Facilitating entrepreneurship and addressing market inefficiencies;
  • Harnessing the potential of youth in combating unemployment in Westlands;
  • Empowering special interest groups and providing safety nets for the vulnerable;
  • Encouraging social cohesion through cultural programming;
  • Advocating for proper infrastructural development in Westland Constituency and;
  • Enhancing security for residents through multi-stakeholder pronged approaches.
His track record speaks for itself, the most accessible leader who listens and engages the electorate to determine the need and offer solutions through sustainable programs. This he does without favour through engaging every person no matter their tribe, party affiliation, race, social status, class, age and even physical and mental ability. 


Hon Tim Wetangula Wanyonyi has created positive change around him. He is living the philosophy of the worlds’ favorite statesman Nelson Rolihlahla Madiba Mandela who believed that, “What counts in life is not the mere fact we have lived. It is the difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”

He is a hero, a great leader, a genius on wheels, a living icon worth being celebrated by the present and the generations to come.

    Westlands Constituency has been on the upward trend under the able leadership of Hon Tim Wanyonyi. No doubt the tremendous bold steps in development and empowerment have never been this robust in its history from past leadership.

KANGEMI PRIMARY TRANSFORMED BY TIM WANYONYI

Kangemi Primary School pupils studying in one of the refurbished classrooms courtesy of Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi. Kangemi Primary School was established in 1927. It is the only public primary school in the expansive Mountain View Ward. The school has a current enrollment of 1,846 pupils and 30 teachers. The school bore the brunt of a ballooning population of its catchment comprising of Gichagi, Rift Valley, Village Inn and St Joseph informal settlement areas.  The free primary education programme introduced in January 2003 positively contributed to an increased enrollment of pupils at the school .The high enrollment with the limited physical facilities at the school resulted in congested classrooms. The defunct city council failure to allocate resources to the school further  contributed to the sorry state of affairs with the school infrastructure being overstretched. THOUSANDS OF KIBAGARE SLUM DWELLERS IN WESTLANDS FACE POTENTIAL EVICTIONS

Aug 1st, 2016 George Kidi Kiprono Kibagare Slum Dwellers demonstrating peacefully on Aug 1, 2016 led by Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi against an illegal verbal eviction notice issued by the Nairobi School Principal. At least ten t housand Kibagare Slum dwellers  are threatened with eviction from their homes and businesses following a verbal eviction notice which sources point to the nearby Nairobi School Principal. According to the Kibagare Informal Settlement leadership, last week, the Deputy President visited Nairobi School and was notified by the school the need to set up a perimeter wall to cordon off the school land.  A day after the visit, the Kibagare leaders were summoned for a meeting with the principal of the school where he told them that a wall is supposed to be built on the disputed land which is about 4 acres. He was categorical that the land belongs to Nairobi School and the residents have no option but to voluntarily leave or be forcefully evicted.
