MIRADI MITAANI:THE ROAD TO EMPOWERING WESTLANDS YOUTH BY TIM WANYONYI

Image
Hon Tim Wanyonyi issuing a motorbike to a youth group in Parklands Ward Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi  is a calm, amiable, soft-spoken and gentleman. Tim is an anomaly in Kenyan politics because of his innovative servant leadership that breaks the barriers and build a bright future for the youth. Youth engagement and youth empowerment are close to his heart. In his 2013 campaigns Hon Tim Wanyonyi promised the youth of his commitment to create new self employment opportunities. Through his innovative Miradi Mitaani the legislator has impacted more than 6000 youth who are self reliant. Miradi Mitaani is an initiative designed to empower youth groups with Income Generating Activities (IGAs) that provide employment to the youth while increasing the income of the group members. DECIPHERING LIES BY A PERRENIAL LOSER WESTLANDS MP ASPIRANT REGARDING THIONGO ROAD REHABILITATION

Thiongo Road while being rehabilitated by the County Government of Nairobi Contractor in this file photo My attention is drawn to an MP aspirant who wants to make political capital by dumping sand to parts of Thiongo road in an attempt to castigate failure by Westlands MP to rehabilitate the road. To my astonishment the MP aspirant managed by the well educated Moses Esemele seems deceived and manipulated to a backfired PR gimmick with no eyesight of the ramifications. Thiongo access road is categorized as a County Road.Well before the County called for proposals to rehabilitate the road on Feb 24, 2015 the residents of the area led led by Francis Mbugua Kamau led demonstrations in Mountain View by youth decrying the poor status of the road in May 2014. Westlands legislator Hon Tim Wanyonyi came and listened to their pleas. He took up the issue at two levels. He petitioned parliament for a budgetary allocation to the county to tarmac the road in addition to speaking to Dr Ev

PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN WESTLANDS LIVING THE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY DREAM

Of all the ODM MP's running in Nairobi, I am most impressed by the solid development record of the Hon Tim Wanyonyi who despite being a Person Living With Disability (PWD), still outshone able colleagues in the 11th parliament. Tim's vision is contained in a comprehensive strategic plan he crafted soon after being elected as MP 2013. Among my favourite of Hon Tim Wanyonyi's projects was his commitment to improve education outcomes at all levels of learning in Westlands Constituency through integration of ICT in primary schools curricular. Recognizing that digital technology has the power to transform how young people learn, Hon Wanyonyi prioritized the setting up ICT facilities in schools within the constituency. The MP went ahead with the unprecedented implementation and supplied 17 of the 18 primary schools with fully equipped computer laboratories. The 18th school was only omitted because Safaricom Limited had, through its Corporate Social Responsibility pro

Hon Tim Wanyonyi vied for the Westlands Member of Parliament position with a strategic plan to improve the education outcomes at levels of learning in the Constituency termed MASOMOBORA. To achieve this he set up many projects. What in particular has Hon Tim Wanyonyi done at Lower Kabete Primary School? Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi (Blue Coat) listening to the HeadBoy of Kihumbuini primary school in a file picture. Westlands over the years we have had representation in parliament starting with Fitz Remedio s who ascended to power in 1963 and did usher in Samuel Kivuitu in 1969, Isaac waweru 1974, Krishan chander 1979, Samuel Kivuitu 1983, njoroge mungai 1988, Amin Walji 1992, and Fred Ngumo who took over in a by election in 1994 to 2013. All this were leaders chosen by the people and looking back at the impact they had to the electorate. A saying goes “You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince” and yes we did until 8th march 2013 when a prince was given to us in HON. TIM WANYONYI a true servant leader was chosen by God for the people of Westland’s and I will say this has really changed the constituency in all perspectives,  His main focus has been on:- • Improving education outcomes, • Improving Health Access and Quality in Westlands Constituency, • Addressin
