WESTLANDS GEM HON TIM WANYONYI A LEADER WITH AN OPEN MIND

How many times have you heard someone use the term, open mind?
“Let’s approach this with an open mind.”
I expect that, like me, you have heard it countless times, used by countless people, in countless settings. Add to this the number of occasions when the words were used, and we didn’t even notice.
Having an open mind certainly includes being receptive to different ideas and opinions in a given situation. But, I would also argue that this definition stops far short of the term’s infinitely deeper meaning.

Indeed having an open mind can be a vital, enduring and endlessly rewarding part of how you interpret and engage people, situations and ideas.  For the Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi having an open mind is a deeply embedded part of his value system. A positive driving force behind his actions, and a hallmark of what gives him a sense of purpose.

Many are the times that you can pick out without a struggle how Hon Tim Wanyonyi derives great joy in interacting with different cadres of people within and without his constituency. This is attributable to him being open minded. It’s for this reason that his deliberate choice in becoming Westlands MP came about naturally.

A closer analysis of his management style speaks volumes. While other leaders would like to be all over the place and lead with an iron fist, Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi is set apart by his leadership structures that systematically delegate various responsibilities to various suitable and qualified personnel.

As every year sets in during Hon Tim Wanyonyi’s leadership as Westlands Constituency  MP, the legislator is not short of surprises as evidenced by how he rolls out new , unique and impact development programs to supplement the existing ones. Miradi Mitaani Youth Empowerment Programme and the Westlands Rising Stars Talent Sear as a testament of this. All this can be attributed to being open minded.

As the 2017 election draws near Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi is well positioned to see and relish the strengths and potential of all opponents but is not threatened by any of them. As an open minded leader he has set the development agenda on course in Westlands Constituency.

One word for HON TIM WANYONYI?

KANGEMI PRIMARY TRANSFORMED BY TIM WANYONYI

Kangemi Primary School pupils studying in one of the refurbished classrooms courtesy of Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi. Kangemi Primary School was established in 1927. It is the only public primary school in the expansive Mountain View Ward. The school has a current enrollment of 1,846 pupils and 30 teachers. The school bore the brunt of a ballooning population of its catchment comprising of Gichagi, Rift Valley, Village Inn and St Joseph informal settlement areas.  The free primary education programme introduced in January 2003 positively contributed to an increased enrollment of pupils at the school .The high enrollment with the limited physical facilities at the school resulted in congested classrooms. The defunct city council failure to allocate resources to the school further  contributed to the sorry state of affairs with the school infrastructure being overstretched. THOUSANDS OF KIBAGARE SLUM DWELLERS IN WESTLANDS FACE POTENTIAL EVICTIONS

Aug 1st, 2016 George Kidi Kiprono Kibagare Slum Dwellers demonstrating peacefully on Aug 1, 2016 led by Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi against an illegal verbal eviction notice issued by the Nairobi School Principal. At least ten t housand Kibagare Slum dwellers  are threatened with eviction from their homes and businesses following a verbal eviction notice which sources point to the nearby Nairobi School Principal. According to the Kibagare Informal Settlement leadership, last week, the Deputy President visited Nairobi School and was notified by the school the need to set up a perimeter wall to cordon off the school land.  A day after the visit, the Kibagare leaders were summoned for a meeting with the principal of the school where he told them that a wall is supposed to be built on the disputed land which is about 4 acres. He was categorical that the land belongs to Nairobi School and the residents have no option but to voluntarily leave or be forcefully evicted.
