KEN OKOTH IS BACK APPLAUDS WESTLANDS MP TIM WANYONYI FOR SUPPORT

Kibra MP Ken Okoth is back in the country after a long medical trip in Paris, France. The legislator who was in the company of Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi and Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja made a public appearance during the annual Kibra Music Festival at Moi Girls High School, Nairobi.

Westlands legislator Tim Wanyonyi commended Hon Ken Okoth for his brave fight as well as putting up a team that has carried on with his obligations with diligence.

"Hon Ken and I have the same passion for education. When I visited Hon Ken in Paris in April he sent me to assure you of his full recovery. We thank God for his risilience. Importantly, we commend you for the excellent job you are doing for Kibra," Hon Wanyonyi said.

Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja thanked Hon Ken Okoth for the amazing job he has been doing.

"Welcome back home bro and thanks for the amazing job you and your team have been doing." he said.

Kibra MP Hon Ken Okoth commended Hon Tim Wanyonyi for visiting him in Paris and importantly for stepping in for him during disbursement of bursaries in Kibra. He also congratulated his team for ensuring that his programs run and partnerships maintained.

"Hon Tim Wanyonyi is more than a brother. He came with his family to see me and quell my home sickness. Thank you for standing in for me during the bursaries disbursement as well. I will continue serving my constituents with zeal and commitment."

The festival draws performances from Early Childhood Development, Primary and secondary schools with the winners in the various categories feted with trophies and certificates.

Hon Ken Okoth has been undergoing specialized treatment in France for colon cancer and has been away for more than five months.

It is the only public primary school in the expansive Mountain View Ward. The school has a current enrollment of 1,846 pupils and 30 teachers. The school bore the brunt of a ballooning population of its catchment comprising of Gichagi, Rift Valley, Village Inn and St Joseph informal settlement areas.  The free primary education programme introduced in January 2003 positively contributed to an increased enrollment of pupils at the school .The high enrollment with the limited physical facilities at the school resulted in congested classrooms. MP TIM WANYONYI LEADS IN HARAMBEE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF NEW DORMITORY AT PARKLANDS ARYA GIRLS

Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi today joined hands with students, teachers, parents and the community at Parklands Arya Girls High School for a harambee towards the construction of a dormitory for the girls that realised KES 17 Million. Architectural model of the new dormitory at Parklands Arya Girls High School to cost KES 50 Million and with a capacity of 1,200 students and 4 staff housing units During the event, the Westlands MP committed to give a supporting hand to the school to accommodate its increased enrollment through building the necessary infrastructure. THOUSANDS OF KIBAGARE SLUM DWELLERS IN WESTLANDS FACE POTENTIAL EVICTIONS

Aug 1st, 2016 George Kidi Kiprono Kibagare Slum Dwellers demonstrating peacefully on Aug 1, 2016 led by Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi against an illegal verbal eviction notice issued by the Nairobi School Principal. At least ten t housand Kibagare Slum dwellers  are threatened with eviction from their homes and businesses following a verbal eviction notice which sources point to the nearby Nairobi School Principal. According to the Kibagare Informal Settlement leadership, last week, the Deputy President visited Nairobi School and was notified by the school the need to set up a perimeter wall to cordon off the school land.  A day after the visit, the Kibagare leaders were summoned for a meeting with the principal of the school where he told them that a wall is supposed to be built on the disputed land which is about 4 acres. He was categorical that the land belongs to Nairobi School and the residents have no option but to voluntarily leave or be forcefully evicted.
