Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi at the KTN Morning Express Interview on Thursday, July 6, 2017

Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi on July 6, 2017 articulated his track record and agenda for the Westlands electorate in the morning express interview. Dedan Mugo (Jubilee MP Aspirant) and Amin Walji (ANC MP Aspirant) gave the show a wide berth despite being invited.

In a candid conversation the Westlands legislator outlined the confusion among most of the electorate on the separation of roles of the national and county governments as occasioned by the new constitutional dispensation.

On promises delivered, the Westlands MP expounded how he has positively changed the learning environment in most of the schools by refurbishing 8 of the 18 public primary schools, setting up computer laboratories in 17 of the 18 public primary schools, building classrooms, dormitories, modern kitchens in addition to purchasing of school buses for some of the schools. He outlined the dilapidated state of schools before taking over the mantle of leadership in 2013.

Additionally, the Westlands Member of National Assembly prides in impacting more than 300 groups (6,000 women) through the table banking programme he introduced in 2014. The project has enabled the women to easily access capital to set up and expand their existing business enterprises. This has improved the quality of their lives.

Furthermore, Hon Tim Wanyonyi stated undertaking youth empowerment projects such as MIRADI MITAANI where at least 200 youth groups (3,000 youth) have been facilitated to acquire equipment, tools and machines to be able to set up and expand their current business establishments. These equipment range from Movie Burning Machines, Motorbikes, Car Wash Machines, Printing Machines, Photocopy Machines among others. This has enhanced self employment and self reliance for the youth who have limited job opportunities in modern times.

On matters to do with infrastructure and markets, Hon Wanyonyi outlined his multi-stakeholder engagement especially with the County Government to improve the current road network within Westlands. Similarly, he has made frantic and deliberate efforts to ensure that the Westlands Market construction is fast tracked.

The legislator described his continued engagement of police to intensify patrols within the constituency. This has significantly flashed out criminal gangs who used to terrorize residents for a long time especially during traffic snarl ups.

Hon Tim Wanyonyi outlined his key plans for his next term as follows:

1. Increase the number of secondary schools in Westlands Constituency.
2.Expand the capacity of the existing public primary schools in Westlands Constituency to accomodate the increased enrolment of children.
3. Enhanced engagement of the youth through better tournaments and talent search equipments.

A united Westlands people with no tribal segregation stands out as one of Hon Tim Wanyonyi's legacy.
