MP TIM WANYONYI LEADS IN HARAMBEE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF NEW DORMITORY AT PARKLANDS ARYA GIRLS

Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi today joined hands with students, teachers, parents and the community at Parklands Arya Girls High School for a harambee towards the construction of a dormitory for the girls that realised KES 17 Million.

During the event, the Westlands MP committed to give a supporting hand to the school to accommodate its increased enrollment through building the necessary infrastructure.

"We want to support our institutions. I want this school to have increased enrollment. To enhance 100 percent transition in secondary school enrollment we need more of our schools to be boarding schools."

He urged parents to fully participate in school activities while making a clarion call to government to increase the allocation to CDF kitty to reflect 5% of the national budget.

"I want to encourage parents to please participate in the development of your schools. Free Secondary Education is not yet well defined, because you have to pay school fees.Let us not shy away from such initiatives.Be passionate in such drives."

"The only fund created by government and is doing something substatial is CDF. CDF funded projects are visible across the country, but nothing big has been achieved from other funds.If we can increase CDF to 5% of our national budget, all our schools can be transformed," said Hon Wanyonyi.

The soft spoken MP who has prioritized improvement of educational outcomes was accompanied by Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, Nyaribabi Chache MP Rihcard Nyagaka as well as nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi.Others present include Dr Rose opondo (BOM Chair), charles Jamin (PA) as well as the school principal Rhodah Ogaro.
