Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi on June 3rd, 2016 joined the Visa Oshwal Primary School fraternity for their Prize Giving Day Celebrations.

The school attained a mean of 318 marks to be ranked 6th out of the 217 public primary schools iNairobi City County in the KCPE 2015 results.

The legislator assured the school of his commitment to support the institutions planned infrastructural developments in the areas of digital classes, dormitories as well as the perimeter wall.

He further went on to congratulate the school for its exemplary performance in the KCPE 2015 results.

Kangemi Primary School pupils studying in one of the refurbished classrooms courtesy of Westlands MP Hon Tim Wanyonyi. Kangemi Primary School was established in 1927. It is the only public primary school in the expansive Mountain View Ward. The school has a current enrollment of 1,846 pupils and 30 teachers. The school bore the brunt of a ballooning population of its catchment comprising of Gichagi, Rift Valley, Village Inn and St Joseph informal settlement areas.  The free primary education programme introduced in January 2003 positively contributed to an increased enrollment of pupils at the school .The high enrollment with the limited physical facilities at the school resulted in congested classrooms. The defunct city council failure to allocate resources to the school further  contributed to the sorry state of affairs with the school infrastructure being overstretched. Westlands Constituency has over the years had representation in parliament starting with Fitz Remedios who ascended to power in 1963 ushering the late ECK Chairman Samuel Kivuitu in 1969, Isaac waweru 1974, Krishan chander 1979, Samuel Kivuitu 1983, Njoroge Mungai 1988, Amin Walji 1992, and Fred Ngumo who took over in a by election in 1994 to be at the helm of power for 19 years to 2013 when he resigned from active politics. All this were leaders chosen by the people and looking back at the impact they had to the electorate. A saying goes “You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince” and yes we did until 8th march 2013 when a prince was given to us HON. PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN WESTLANDS LIVING THE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY DREAM

Of all the ODM MP's running in Nairobi, I am most impressed by the solid development record of the Hon Tim Wanyonyi who despite being a Person Living With Disability (PWD), still outshone able colleagues in the 11th parliament. Tim's vision is contained in a comprehensive strategic plan he crafted soon after being elected as MP 2013. Among my favourite of Hon Tim Wanyonyi's projects was his commitment to improve education outcomes at all levels of learning in Westlands Constituency through integration of ICT in primary schools curricular. Recognizing that digital technology has the power to transform how young people learn, Hon Wanyonyi prioritized the setting up ICT facilities in schools within the constituency.
